This is a simple recipe for delicious bagels. It does take some time, however, as there are many steps.
In a large bowl, mix together:
Let sit for about five minutes, until the yeast is foamy and fragrant. Then, add the following, mixing with a wooden spoon:
In the meantime, bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil and preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Turn the water down to simmer and boil a few bagels at a time for two minutes, slipping each one over after a minute. Drain on wire rack (use a slotted spoon to remove them from the water).
Place bagels on parchment-paper lined cookie sheet. Turn oven down to 425 degrees and bake for 18-20 minutes.
The modifications are endless here. Instead of the Cran & Apple, you could use carmelized onion, dried fruit, seeds, or roasted garlic, etc. etc.

- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water

- 2 tsp salt
- 3-4 cups flour
